We are so excited to be hosting an exclusive 2 day masterclass with super-talented internationally renowned cake artist Nadia Colella of Nadia & Co. Famous for her stunning signature painted cakes and dessert tables, Nadia will be travelling from Toronto to teach this very special one-off class for the first time ever in London.
The class will focus on the design and decoration of your own painted three tiered cake. Nadia will be teaching you her signature decorating techniques, showing you how to create a beautiful cake design (on a tiered cake). She’ll demonstrate and guide you through her process and technique for hand-painting directly onto your cake. She’ll also teach you how to make her signature sugar hand-crafted sugar flowers to adorn your painted design.
Beginner students or those new to painting need not be daunted because Nadia will guide you through ALL elements of the cake design, teaching you her well-honed processes, tools and techniques, needed to create a stunning cake. As well as guiding you through design, colour theory in order to fully understand the creative painting process, and mapping out your painted design onto the cake to achieve incredible results. In addition to creating a beautiful design, you’ll learn the essential contemporary cake design techniques for covering your cake (using dummy tiers) to achieve a flawless finish and beautifully sharp edges.
Key skills and techniques you will learn:
- How to neatly cover your cake, polystyrene dummy and base board with sugarpaste.
- How to achieve a flawless finish with perfectly sharp edges
- How to map out and transfer your own designs onto the sides of cakes and cookies.
- How to paint with edible paints onto fondant, including the essentials of colour theory.
- How to create stunning hand modelled sugar flowers to decorate your cake with.
- How to place and position your floral design, and safely attach sugar flowers to your cake.

- A stunning hand-painted three tiered wedding cake (dummy cake), decorated with sugar flowers.

Internationally acclaimed cake artist Nadia Colella began her artistic journey 15 years ago. Always a dreamer of ice cream bubble baths, quintessential tea parties, romantic imagery, pattern and all things excessively beautiful. Nadia always knew she would explore life through celebrating Art and Pastry.
Nadia & Co’s wondrous cake designs and artisan sweet confections have been commissioned by the likes of Chanel, Hermes, Tiffany & Co, and Mercedes Benz.
Through the influence and guidance of Masters in the Fine Art & Pastry fields, Nadia enjoys exploring new ways to merge both passions into designing exclusive, custom tailored pieces of art, driven by her creative energy.
Nadia’s signature mark is a painted cake. With a BFA specializing in painting and French pastry training her designs are aesthetically alluring.
She motivates her audience in the rich history of art through mixed media techniques finding inspiration in the rarest most remarkable places.
From art and architecture to fashion and travel, to even people she meets, all while entertaining their taste buds, to create a world of decadent memories.
Students will be taught by Nadia, receiving hands-on tuition and guidance and learn within a friendly and intimate group setting in our beautiful new cake school. Just a short 10 minute train journey from London Bridge, our school is kitted out with brand new state-of-the-art equipment and tools. Included is a tour of our production studio which is conveniently located next door to the school. This class is open to all, from beginner to intermediate and advanced levels.

Timings: 9.00am – 3.00pm (with 30 mins – 1 hour for lunch). Please note, the class may be longer depending on the speed of the class on the day.
What we provide: We have a fully equipped, purpose-built cake school, and provide all the tools and equipment you need during the class, as well as an apron to wear during the class (to be returned at the end of the class), and a box to take your cake home.
What you need to bring: Please bring a comfy pair of clean shoes (you will be standing for a large part of the class), something to tie your hair back. We recommend driving or taking a cab home if possible. For lunch there plenty of local cafes and shops within a few minutes of our studio.
Booking Conditions: Unfortunately we cannot issue a refund on any class or course bookings. If you wish to book onto a different class or course this may be possible in some circumstances and transfers will be at the discretion of Rosalind Miller Cakes. We reserve the right to cancel a class or course under certain circumstances, including if we do not have the minimum number of students booked onto the class. In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a class or course we will offer a full refund for the cost of the class or the course, or a transfer to another class of the same price. We will endeavour to advise you as far in advance as possible if we need to cancel a class.
