We are thrilled to be hosting this exclusive two day workshop with world-renowned US cake artist, Jasmine Rae. For her first ever London class, Jasmine Rae, famous for her exquisite textured cakes, is travelling from San Francisco to teach her signature techniques, creating a variety of textures including bas relief and rough and aged stone with a weathered antiqued finish.
The class will focus on how you can utilise these techniques to develop your own artistic style. Included is a personal tour of our own cake production studio, as well as an exclusive Q & A session with both Jasmine and Rosalind, during which you’ll be able to ask all those burning questions about running a cake business.
A note from Jasmine Rae:
“From course natural elements to grooved uneven pinstriping, I’m inspired by textures both naturally occurring and human-made. I texturize the sugar that covers my cakes every chance I get, surrendering to the inevitable cracks and tears from manipulation. I believe art should reveal the hand of the artist, and these imperfections expose the path of the artist’s choices and movements. By learning some of my signature techniques (such as manipulating fondant to look like unpolished granite, crackling, course stone, aged stone, bas relief, tarnished metal, patina, etc.), you will play with ways to achieve different effects, then compose the samples into a final piece.
You’ll identify what interests you in different parts of the samples you created, which is insight into your unique artistry. You’ll make many nuanced design decisions in the process of composing a complete piece, while we share in a group setting.
We’ll discuss an approach to design with these techniques and you’ll create a 3-tier cake that demonstrates your unique design choices and the style of your hand”
