TRAIN

Our nearest station is Brockley (2 mins walk). We are less than 10 minutes from London Bridge (National Rail trains), and Canada Water (London Overground).

When you come out of the station, cross over the bridge and exit onto Mantle Road. Turn right and walk past the Nisa shop and under the railway bridge. Turn left on to Endwell Road, and Dragonfly Place is the second turning on your left (after the ‘Brockley Cross Business Centre’ and opposite ‘Quick Stop Shop’). We are in the middle building on the right opposite the grass.

CAR

Dragonfly Place is a new build and does not come up on all Sat Navs. If it does not show up on your Sat Nav put in Endwell Road, SE4 (we are opposite ‘Quick Stop Shop’ and next to the ‘Brockley Business Centre’).

PARKING

There is free parking available on Endwell Road and nearby streets.

Experienced Cake Decorator and Kitchen Manager with experience as a Pastry Chef

 

We are looking for a Full Time experienced Pastry Chef to join our team as Head Cake Decorator and Kitchen Manager at the highly acclaimed Rosalind Miller Cakes Studio.

  • Full time with some weekend work
  • Immediate start date

 

As well as being an experienced Pastry Chef you will have experience in cake decorating and possess very strong skills in this area. You will be working with and supervising a small team of bakers and decorators to produce all of our wedding, celebration cakes, cupcakes and other products to the highest standard, including our Harrods cakes, cupcakes and other confectionaries.

You will have excellent organisation and communication skills, with the ability to lead a team effectively within a busy environment to produce all our baked goods to the highest standard. You will be a perfectionist with a focus on attention to detail and a passion for creating beautiful cakes as well as baking and decorating. You will have good knowledge of the cake industry including current trends. You will be highly motivated and thrive under pressure, as well as being a good leader and strong team player with a positive outlook towards your work.

We are looking for someone who has a longterm interest in a developing a career within our fast growing company. Working hours may include some weekend and evening work.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Managing and carrying out production, including baking and preparing cakes, cupcakes, cookies, celebration cakes and confections
  • Cake decoration including piping with royal icing, making sugar flowers and decorations
  • Ganaching and covering cakes
  • Managing and supervising the kitchen team and delegating duties
  • Ingredient ordering & stock management
  • Health & hygiene checks and procedures

 

Professional Skills required:

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Baking cakes, cupcakes, cookies, other small confections of a high quality
  • Good skills in covering cakes to a perfect standard
  • Sugar flower making, piping with royal icing and buttercream, decorating cakes
  • Knowledge of the latest trends in cake design
  • Valid Level 2 Food Safety certificate

Administration, Sales and Marketing Co-ordinator

 

We are looking for an Administration, Sales and Marketing Co-ordinator to join our thriving award-winning cake design studio.

 

As the Administration, Sales and Marketing Co-ordinator you will be providing an essential supporting role in the smooth running of the business, working closely with and assisting the management with marketing duties, and ensuring all administration duties are carried out effectively. You will deal with customer sales and enquiries, and therefore excellent written and verbal communication and customer service is essential. You will be able to work carefully and efficiently and manage your time well. You will be friendly and positive, with the ability to take initiative and work well in a small team.  You will be working in a friendly and creative environment, in our purpose built studio / office space. We are a small but fast growing company, and there will be prospects for career advancement for the right candidate.

 

Duties will include

– Answering customer enquiries by email and phone

– Dealing with customer sales by email and phone

– Managing customer orders – ensuring whole team are aware of all orders received, keeping up to date spreadsheet of orders for kitchen staff

– Generating invoices and receipts using Quickbooks

– Managing deliveries – creating and co-ordinating timetables with customers, venues and drivers, creating delivery paper work

– Managing Harrods ordering – monitoring orders and booking in deliveries, ensuring kitchen and rest of team are aware of all orders

– Creating Product Specifications for Harrods new products

– Regularly sending out photos to relevant print and online publications

– Sending mail shots and assisting with writing copy for newsletters and other marketing literature

– Co-ordinating and sending out samples to companies and contacts

– Keeping press list, venues and other various contacts lists up to date

– Placing orders for various supplies and ingredients

– Any other day-to-day administration duties as required

 

Skills Required

– General office experience

– Microsoft Word

– Microsoft Excel

– Experience using Quickbooks beneficial

– Knowledge of Lightroom beneficial

– Ability to use Apple Macs
